STAND BY ME

I guess I've been feeling a little nostalgic lately, which is why I am recommending this movie. If it's been a while since you've seen it you will probably enjoy watching it again. The story and characters have a timeless quality that make this movie very watchable even years later. I remember I used to like this movie when I was twelve because I thought it was a good story and I liked all the characters. Now that I am approaching thirty I guess I now relate more to the narrator, who is one of the kids all grown up. Now I too can look back at being twelve as the last bit of young childhood, just as the narrator is doing. The performances still remain excellent, particularly Wil Wheaton and River Phoenix. So if you want to bring back some fond memories, or if you've never seen Stand By Me, it's time to check it out.

If you pick up the DVD there are a few good features including a documentary that features several cast members and the director looking back on making the movie. There is also commentary for Rob Reiner and the music video for Stand By Me.
