Taylor Hicks sings Queen tonight on American Idol
I've been kind of ignoring the Queen theme all week, but there's no escaping it now. I think Queen is one of the worst American Idol themes I've ever heard of. But since I've never watched the show before, what do I know?
This seems like a hard category for everyone -- Paris, Kellie, Ace, Bucky singing Queen?
Even Chris Daughtry's style of rock doesn't really fit. Not mention Chris' knowledge of popular music doesn't seem to go back before 1985.
At the very least the night should prove interesting.
Taylor Hicks needs to wow the audience again, and I'm hoping he does. As Bo Bice said in a recent interview - Don't underestimate Taylor's ability to rock.
Chris Daughtry needs to do something that people won't think is boring, or just the same old thing.
I think the other contestants just need to get through their songs. All except Kellie Pickler have been in the bottom 3, so all of them are very vulnerable.
I think Chris, Taylor and Kellie will be safe again this week, but as I said before they have to keep up the hard work, or they will lose some of their fans.
For someone like me who has sought out every Taylor Hicks piece of music I can find, he doesn' need to prove himself every week on the show. I know he's good no matter what he does on American Idol. But to get votes from the casual viewing audience he needs to show us what he's got.
Oddsmakers are saying Bucky Covington will leave this week. I think they are underestimating Bucky. We all know Bucky isn't the greatest singer on the show, but there is something about him that people like. He's my third favorite and I don't even like country music.
Remember if you like Taylor you should vote. We can never assume he's safe.
