Taylor Hicks fans...
I found an interesting comment on an older post, so I thought I would move it up here for discussion...
I think the underestimated value of Taylor is his widespread appeal among people who don't know how to steal his music from the internet. The ratio of sales-to-piracy for Taylor Hicks albums, I predict, will be significantly lower, and every album sold is money... Therefore, Taylor Hicks is money, and I love money... and Taylor Hicks.

I have to agree with the poster to some extent. The majority of Taylor's fans are older (and by older I mean his age - 29 - and above). People in that age group are more likely to buy actual cd's than download songs from the internet. I'm not even going to say it's because we don't know how, it's more because that's what we've done all our lives. We grew up buying albums (some of us even bought vinyl records) and that's what we like to do.
Personally I like having a CD with an album cover, liner notes and the all the songs arranged in the order the artist intended. I definitely don't go along with the idea that music should be free, or that the artists don't need the money (I'm sure Taylor would agree with that part too). That is why on this site I don't have Taylor mp3's or videos available. My recommended online link to Taylor's music is to WBHM, a NPR station Taylor gave 3 of his songs too as a preview of for his album Under The Radar.
That all being said, I do personally have some mp3s of Taylor and his band playing live, and I encourage all of his fans to take a listen. Please don't make copies and sell them on ebay or to anyone else. I just think these performances are worth hearing, because they show how great Taylor really is beyond American Idol. Also please do not buy Under The Radar in an auction, it is easily avaiable from Laser's Edge, and it's probably cheaper than you can find it on ebay. His first album In Your Time is currently unavailable, and if you've got $200.00 to spend to get it on ebay I guess I can't say anything about that. Even so keep in mind that someone who probably paid about $10 or got it for free is making a huge profit and Taylor gets nothing.
I guess if people are willing a pay a couple hundred for one of his cds the poster is probably right about Taylor = money.
