American Idol does the American Songbook
The contestants are working with Rod Stewart tonight but don't expect to hear Maggie Mae or Stay With Me. This category has caused a lot of confusion amond Idol fans, and I don't know if it's because a lot of people don't know what The American Songbook is, or the name Rod Stewart instantly brings to mind Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?
If anyone still doesn't know what the American Songbook is, just look at Rod Stewart's last 4 albums. He has 4 volumes covering the American Songbook. Think songs like The Way You Look Tonight, Blue Moon, What A Wonderful World, The Night Time is the Right Time, etc.
One thing I'm not sure of is whether the contestants are limited to choices from Rod Stewart's albums, which would mean no Georgia On My Mind from Taylor Hicks, or if they can pick anything that fits the genre.
One thing I do know is the contestants are not allowed to change the arrangements of the songs, which could spell trouble for Chris Daughtry. I'm not saying he can't handle a song like that, but on last weeks results show he said he was sticking to what he thinks his fans want. Will his fans accept him crooning a song from the '30's or '40's?
The night should go well for Elliott, which is good, I want Elliott to stick around as long as possible. I also don't forsee problems for Taylor, Paris or Katharine. I think Kellie and Chris will seem out of their element and without even seeing the performance I think this may be Ace's last week on the show.

American songbook rocked! I loved EACH and EVERY one of the performances, although again, I had to close my eyes to get past Taylor being on the TV screen. Katherine is truly the pro, and she should just skip to the finals already.
Simon was right... It was a complete walkover. She was in a totally different league.
The finals will be close. I predict Chris and Katherine.
P.S Paris had this amazing cute-classy performance! Rocked. Oh, and I think you know who I am. The Open Letter to Taylor Hicks guy.
Hey kar liang...
Have you ever seen James Brown, Joe Cocker, or Mick Jagger (to name a few) perform?
Maybe the dancing takes some getting used to, but it's all part of the show.
Glad you like Taylor's singing though.
