SNL Season Premiere tomorrow

SNL Season Premiere tomorrow October 1st - Host Steven Carrell, Musical guest Kanye West.

And now for something comepletely juvenile and frivolous: I used to do these kinds of things in elementary school. It amazes that they still get passed around. Then again it's weird how it works out....

GAME:

Your instincts has its advantages all the time... This is freaky as anything... DO NOT CHEAT (You'll will kick yourself later) I was a little skeptical trying this, but if you follow the instructions to the "t" you'll be surprised!!!! All of my answers were accurate. We'll see tomorrow if the wish comes true. I'll let you know. Take 3 minutes and try this...it will freak you out! The person who sent it to me said her wish came true 10 minutes after they read the mail. BUT NO CHEATING! This game has a funny/spooky outcome. Don't read ahead...just do it in order! It takes about three minutes...it's worth a try :) First..get a pen and paper. When you actually choose names, make sure it's people you actually know and go with your first instinct. Scroll down one line at a time...and don't read ahead or you'll ruin it!
1. First, write the numbers 1 through 11 in a column.

2. Then, beside numbers 1 and 2, write down any two numbers you want.

3. Beside the 3 and 7, write down the names of members of the opposite sex.

NO LOOKING AHEAD...OR IT WON"T TURN OUT RIGHT!

4. Write anyone's name (like friends or family....) in the 4th, 5th, and 6th spots.

5. Write down four song titles in 8,9,10, and 11. GO WITH YOUR INSTINCT PEOPLE!!!! 6. Finally, make a wish. And now the key for the game..... 1. You must tell (the number in space 2) people about this game. 2. The person in space 3 is the one that you love. 3. The person in 7 is one you like but can't work out. 4. You care most about the person you put in 4. The person you name in number 5 is the one who knows you very well.

6. The person you name in 6 is your lucky star.

7. The song in 8 is the song that matches with the person in number 3.

8. The title in 9 is the song for the person in 7.

9. The tenth space is the song that tells you most about YOUR mind.

10. and 11 is the song telling you how you feel about life NOW...post this bulletin within the hour... IF you do.. your wish will come true... If you don't it will become the opposite - GOOD LUCK

Flight Plan

Maybe it's because it stars Jodie Foster, or maybe it's because I'm a sucker for a thriller set in an airplane, but whatever the case I really thought this movie was going to be good. I was wrong.

After a somewhat promising start, Flight Plan, degenerates into a confusing and perposterous mess of a story. Don't get me wrong, I can suspend my disbelief as much as the next person. I can tell myself over and over again that it's just a movie, but they're just asking too much with this one.

The third act of the movie is only unpredictable in the sheer ludicrousness of it. I kept thinking to myself, they can't really be going in that direction, but they did. The movie if full of red herrings that insult the audience's intelligence ran than throw the viewer off track. Instead of trying to explain anything in the plot that might not make sense, the movie just ignores it. It's like assuming to audience is too stupid to think about anything that's not placed right in front of them.

While I was intrigued by the premise and by the setup, this movie fails so miserably by the end nothing even remotely interesting in it matters. Also I'm no expert in aeronautical engineering, but who were they kidding? If you see it you'll know what I'm talking about, but I hope I didn't picque your interest in any way. If you're dying for an airline thriller go see Red Eye again.

Grade F (Maybe it wouldn't be that bad, if it wasn't for the obvious lack of effort to make something good. No extra points for effort on this one. )

*******SPOILER ALERT******************************

****

The premise for the whole plot...How could the bad guys have possibly known she would quit her job, move to New York City and be on that particular flight when they killed her husband? And how did they get him on the roof of his apartment building.

Quick SNL Update

Two new cast members, and a note on Tina Fey.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,169277,00.html

Tina Fey had a baby girl last Saturday, and will be out most of the season on maternity leave. This article basically says they are still undecided on who will do weekend update with Amy Poehler. To be truthful I'm more disappointed Amy Poehler is still there. I was hoping they they would go with something comepletely new.

Batman Begins and 40 Year Old Virgin

Over labor day weekend I saw a couple movies.

Batman Begins

For some reason I waited all summer to see this. I guess I'm kind of partial to the Tim Burton Batman. While I didn't like this one as much as that, I do have to say it's a very good movie. Objectively speaking it may even be better than Burton's Batman, but we can't always be objective when it comes to things we like. This one has a very well told and involved story. Batman Begins tells the story of how Batman came about (just as the title suggests). Though the beginning tells a lot fo backstory, it provides enough action and interesting story elements to keep it fairly interesting.

The movie really takes off, however, with the "birth" of Batman. There are lots of twists and turns, and plenty of action. The film's one weakness may be Katie Holmes, but she is not in it enough to be a real detriment.

Grade - B+

40 Year Old Virgin

I think this may be the most overrated movie of the summer. It does have a lot of laughs, but most of those come in the beginning and the movie is way too long to sustain itself. I think one of the biggest problems is the last third gets wrapped up in romance and stops being funny.

I'm probably in the minority in my opinion on this one, but it just doesn't live up to the hype.

Grade - C
