NOT GUILTY!!!

The usual office buzz turned to dead silence, my co-workers (myself included) gathered around the few tv's in the office as the verdict was read.

Not guilty on all counts.

No one was surprised. Most were saying celebrities like Michael Jackson are never found guilty. I hate to agree, but I have to admit it does seem true. Of course there are so few examples of this caliber of crimes among the entertainment community.

In this case I think the jury was right. I did not feel that way when it started. I felt sure he was guilty. With all his strange behavior and kids around all the time...

But hearing some of the testimony, I definitely think there probably was a reasonable doubt, and you do need to prove beyond a reasonable doubt in a criminal case. Of course the jury heard a lot more than the public did, so I trust in their decision. We'll see how the inevitable civil case turns out.

BTW - I still think OJ is guilty, but maybe the evidence presented a reasonable doubt there too.

Tired of politics....

I realized that my last 3 posts have been about Star Wars and politics. I'm am getting so tired of political talk. It has permeated everthing. This doesn't mean I don't care about politics or that I never want to talk about them, but I'm tired of all the fighting.

I'm not done talking about Star Wars though. It's just taking me a little longer to prepare what I want to say than I thought.

Just so you have an idea...I don't feel the need to write an actual review of Revenge of the Sith. There are already several hundred reviews out there. And I really had to ask myself whether Revenge is even worth talking about? It isn't.

What I want to write about is the franchise in general. I feel what's become Star Wars speaks to a larger issue in the movie business and in our perception of pop culture. So going to solidify my thoughts and write about it. I hope to be done soon, but these are important issues to me, so I'm kind of taking my time.
